BALCONY
In this emotive piece Ibrahim Sincere takes us 16 years into his past, and right into the centre of the London council estate he grew up in. This mellow, nostalgic and hard-hitting song features a series of real events that helped to form his worldview, and the last verse in particular addresses a murder that happened on Rayners Lane Estate in 2003, in which the man charged was sentenced to 15 years, only to be killed in 2018. As are our most vivid memories, the stories are fragmented throughout the track, yet are woven together in a way that true admirers of hip-hop and poetry can appreciate.
This is a story about cause and effect.
